EAFF Policy Influence and Advocacy

EAFF has established itself as the regional voice of farmers in Eastern Africa, ensuring that smallholder farmers are represented in agricultural, trade, climate, and food systems policy processes.

EAFF currently participates in more than 200 international policy engagements annually, strengthening the bargaining power of farmer organizations and ensuring that farmer priorities shape national, regional, and global agendas.

Key Policy Achievements

EAFF has:

• Supported 27 national policy studies;
• Influenced 63 agricultural policy sectors and programmes through advocacy by National Farmer Organizations (NFOs);
• Contributed to creating a more enabling business environment for strategic value chains;
• Played an active role in advancing the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) agenda;
• Supported implementation of the Maputo Declaration through advocacy;
• Remained an active partner in advancing Malabo Declaration commitments;
• Contributed to regional agricultural trade discussions and implementation;
• Influenced reforms governing agricultural cooperatives in Eastern Africa.

Through these engagements, EAFF has strengthened recognition as a trusted regional institution and representative voice for farmers.
