Our programmes are implemented across Eastern Africa and beyond, in partnership with the European Union, UN agencies, bilateral donors, and regional bodies.

Farmers’ Organizations for Institutional Strengthening, Market Access, Policy Engagement, Advocacy, Community and Transformation (FO4IMPACT)
The FO4IMPACT project is a transformative regional initiative implemented by the Eastern Africa Farmers Federation (EAFF) with support from the European Union through the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The project seeks to strengthen farmers’ organizations (FOs) as key drivers of inclusive agricultural transformation, improved livelihoods, and climate resilience across Eastern Africa.
SoLFOOD (Ecological, Technological, and Capacity Development Strategies for Sustainable Optimization of Local Maize-Based Food Systems)
SoLFOOD (Ecological, Technological, and Capacity Development Strategies for Sustainable Optimization of Local Maize-Based Food Systems) is an international, transdisciplinary research project running from March 2024 to December 2027 with a total budget of €1.72 million. The project seeks to strengthen food security and climate-resilient maize production among smallholder farmers in Kenya by addressing mycotoxin contamination, reducing post-harvest losses, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), SoLFOOD brings together leading research institutions from Germany, including the Max Rubner Institute, Julius KĂĽhn Institute, and RPT University Kaiserslautern-Landau, alongside Kenyan partners such as the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) and the Eastern Africa Farmers Federation (EAFF).
FERTITEC Project: Turning Waste into High-Quality Fertilizers
Agriculture today faces growing challenges related to waste management, declining soil fertility, and the need for more sustainable farming practices. Conventional fertiliser production often relies on finite natural resources and can contribute to environmental degradation. As a result, innovative approaches that transform waste into valuable agricultural inputs are increasingly important.
