Regional Youth Representative
Ms. Sakina Usengimana serves as the Youth Representative on the Eastern Africa Farmers Federation (EAFF) Board, where she contributes to regional agricultural governance, policy dialogue, market integration, and farmer representation across Eastern Africa. She is also the Chairperson of the Rwanda Youth in Agribusiness Forum (RYAF) and the Managing Director of Afri-Foods Ltd, a leading Rwanda-based horticultural export company that links smallholder farmers to international markets through inclusive and market-driven value chains.
With a background in Business Management and Entrepreneurship from Akilah Institute/Davis College, Sakina has dedicated her career to advancing youth and women’s economic empowerment through sustainable agriculture and agribusiness development. She has actively contributed to key agricultural policy processes, including the EAC Joint Agriculture Sector Review, CAADP dialogues, and Rwanda’s Fifth Strategic Plan for Agriculture Transformation (PSTA5).
A recipient of the Texas Christian University Wilkens Award, Sakina has represented youth and agribusiness interests at regional and global platforms, including the Africa Youth in Agribusiness Forum, the World Farmers’ Organisation Annual Meeting, and the UNIDO World Without Hunger Summit. She is passionate about fostering resilient food systems, promoting sustainable agriculture and strengthening Africa’s agricultural competitiveness in global markets.
