Strategic Goals is about ensuring the existence of favourable policies for the farmers in the sub region where most of them are small scale operators. These farmers are numerrous, disctrete and therefore with varying agendas, goals and expectations. From this view point and by their nature, they tend to be subjected and often with adverse effects, to many policies both locally and globally. As a leading sub regional entity, EAFF is expected to constantly study and critically analyze all the policies that affect farmers in one way or another. EAFF is then required to undertake interventions that enhance favourable policies while working to limit and eliminate the effects of policies deemed to have adverse consequences on the farming agenda of its members.
This include championing measures towards review and enacting of policies and forming strategic alliances for seeing to its that supportive policies are implemented. In all these stages EAFF should ensure that actions lead to fair play and accountability for the betterment of farmers. specific advocacy components may include:
- Policy Analysis and development
- Policy Implementation and monitoring
- Policy Dissemination
