Farmers’ Integration into Regional Markets through Structured Trade (Farm-

The specific objectives of the project were to:
- Form regional networks of farmer organizations in the targeted commodities;
- Strengthen the capacities of farmer organizations to engage in the selected value chains through various structured trade options;
- Advocate for the enactment or implementation of enabling policy, trade and regulatory regimes, where such an environment is restrictive;
- Develop knowledge sharing mechanism for farmer organizations engaged in structured trade.
The project interventions resulted in 7,051 Metric tonnes of grains being traded in 2014. The estimated value of these sales were USD 2,024,887. (iv) More than 4,400 farmers benefitted from the project directly as recipients of knowledge and skills during the training on structured trade, through participation in business meetings, and through participation in mentorship visits, among other interventions.(v) Early 2015 we were able to sign an additional 29 supply related (MoUs) that will translate to more than 20,000 metric tonnes of rice and maize worth more than 6.5M USD.
