Enhancing the capacities of farmers and/or their organizations to be able to effectively take part in the regional trade through the regional integration agenda and to become ‘entrepreneurs’ and hence competitively take part in the regional and world market is my day to day activity at EAFF.
It’s important to recognize that Regional trade initiatives in ESA have in the past encountered various difficulties though countries continue to explore new ways of fostering economic growth through trade expansion. However, inappropriate policies and other trading malpractices have undermined regional governments’ food security goals. By emphasizing free trade and under scoring the importance of favourable trade policies and removal of all trade malpractices, this position aims to address challenges assuring national and regional food security.
